There’s not much better than fresh peaches in the summer! Peaches and cream, homemade peach ice cream, peach cobbler. Our family has been going back and forth about which peach dessert is our favorite. What’s yours?
This year, I took the boys to a nearby orchard so we could pick our own. I really didn’t know what to expect. For those of you who are local, I’m sure you’ve heard of the Charlie-Thornberry communities in Texas. The farmers in this area have been the biggest contributors and organizers of the Wichita Falls Farmer’s Market for many years.

We visited Morath Orchard. Click here to learn more about this family-run farm. If you don’t want to pick your own produce, you can visit their stand, the Farmer’s Market or even find their produce in United Marketstreet in Wichita Falls!
Dos and Don’ts of Peach Picking:
- Follow Morath Orchard on Facebook to get updates on pick-your-own produce days/times
- The peach orchard is not shaded, so plan accordingly. We went middle of the day and it was HOT!
- Dress appropriately. Closed-toe shoes and long pants would be best. While they keep it mowed, there are thistles and stickers.
- Drive your car close to the tree rows. I wasn’t thinking and we walked. Wasn’t too bad going, but tough carrying a basket full of peaches all the way back to the car!
- Bring a produce bag or bucket to transport your fruit home.

The great news- a whole basket was only $20! Ya’ll these peaches are soooo good!!!!! I mean, the sweetest, juiciest you can imagine! Keep in mind, I was balancing two toddlers during this experience, so some of those in reach, were not the ripest, but the ones that are were well worth the time in the heat!
In addition to super affordable produce, these cute overalls were perfect for peach picking and are only $13! I sized up for a looser fit- wearing a Large. This little silk bandana is so multi-functional. I’ve worn it around my neck, and several different ways in my hair. I love it, and it’s also only $13! My slip on sneakers are old Steve Maddens and my tank was a cheap TJ Maxx find!
