Come on in!
When we chose the plans for our house, I was determined to have a design that forced people to use the front door. I really wanted a warm entrance to welcome people inside. As hard as I tried, most still come through the…. wait for it…. Garage!
Of all places, they walk right past our pile of trash bags to haul to the dumpster and through the space where we keep our “barn cats” litter box. Cue Lindsey’s horrified face!
I’ve learned to deal and still find joy in creating an inviting space even if no one uses it.
I was on the fence between doing a fun floor pattern in the entryway or these cross beams. I’ve been very happy with the decision and love the way they turned out! Full disclosure, I completely forgot to install hardware on these pocket doors into the piano room… oops!
The table is a faux marble top. It’s a reasonably priced Amazon find, but you do have to put it together yourself.
In searching for wood we could reclaim, my husband scored the biggest find with this old window! During renovation of the original family cabin on the ranch, these were replaced and remained stacked in one of the barns. There were a couple dozen. He surprised me with a handful and I had this one installed with a mirror backing. I LOVE IT and the history it brings!
Can’t wait to share the rest of the home tour with you!
